1899, Caroline du Nord. Sonia Wilson arrive à la gare de Siler - « le pays du mondialement célèbre Lapin de Chatham » . Après la mort de son père, avec qui elle vivait, cette femme célibataire vient prendre un emploi chez le Dr Halder, un naturaliste comme son défunt père. Différence notable entre les deux : le père Wilson inventoriait les végétaux quand le Dr Halder s’occupe, lui, d’insectes. Dans la maison isolée où elle va dorénavant vivre et travailler, elle découvre un tout petit monde composé d’une gouvernante, de son mari, d’une jeune domestique, et surtout du très désagréable Dr Halder. Autour, quelques rares voisins (dont un paraît cinglé) , et quelques paroissiens côtoyés à l’office du dimanche. C’est tout. C’est peu. Et comme si ça ne suffisait pas, Sonia réalise vite que quelque chose (quoi au juste ?) n’est pas normal. Wolf Worm est le dernier roman de T. Kingfisher .
